Halloween!

We ventured out in the neighborhood with our little cupcake and our dragon (Toothless from the movie How to Train Your Dragon). What a night!
First, time to carve the pumpkins!

Hurricane Party!

What do you do when you are off of school due to a hurricane? Wake up late, oh wait not, didn't do that but we did a lot of other fun stuff! We stayed in our "comfy" clothes all day made banana bread and cupcakes, played play doh, chased each other around the house and watched it rain and blow out the window! We also had a yummy homemade veggie meatball soup for dinner that was perfect for a wet cold day. I would say our first hurricane day was a success. Oh, that's right we are going for day #2 tomorrow. More fun to come and luckily for us the storm isn't hitting us too bad so we are safe and warm at home!
 Ready to bake!

  Mixing up the banana bread
Carter was finishing up her lunch and watching......mess much?!?!
 Added the mini chocolate chips!
 Now, time for mummy cupcakes!
 Putting the liners in
Carter is doing her own cooking in her toy kitchen!
 Mixing time
 Time to scoop

Done! Check out the nasty weather outside!
 Time to frost.
 YUM!
Banana chocolate chip bread=delicious!

Hurricane Preparations

As I posted we were up in Woodstock, VA for the weekend. When the forecast started to deteriorate for Richmond we decided to head back and get the house ready for the storm. This didn't include any serious preparations just cleaning up and taking advantage of the electricity while we still had. The kids decided to chip in and help. I didn't get a picture but Sean vacuumed the living room and they both helped me dust. I did about 99 loads of laundry, folded it all, and put it away. Whew! We are ready for a fun day at home now! And the house even stayed clean for....wait for it...a whole 8 minutes! A record!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we temporarily "lost" Sean today. Dan was watching football, Carter and I were taking a nap and Sean was playing quietly in his playroom. A while went by and Dan hadn't heard much from him so he checked on it only to find the room was empty. So he came upstairs wondering if he decided to nap in his bed or mine? Nope. Not in the attic, or in the closets. We are all running around frantically looking for Sean only to find him passed out under the train table in the playroom. Geez. He had us nervous for a minute. So much for "not being tired" and not "needing a nap". He was sound asleep and didn't even hear us calling his name!

The Cabin in the mountains

My dad's best friend from years ago has a family cabin in Woodstock, VA (about 40 mins north of JMU on 81) and we were able to spend the weekend there with Nama, Poppy, Auntie and my grandparents from NY. It was a great weekend of outside country fun!

Carter loved seeing the cows!
Sean was a little nervous. Man did it smell!

Awww Baby Cows which I learned are called a calf. Baby Cow works for me though.
She loved them!

So cute!

So interested!

Smiling at the baby cows!

Heading out on hike up on the mountain. Walking to the Fire Tower for a great view!
