Ok, so we finally got power back on Tuesday around 3pm. That puts us at 3.5 days without power so needless to say we were so relieved! Nights were tough for me being 9 months pregnant with no A/C. I even resorted to sleeping on the couch as it was cooler downstairs. Sean didn't seem too phased by it though for a few days every time he would talk to someone on the phone he would say, "Do you have power" even though they were in other areas and weren't affected by the storm. We stocked up our fridge and freezer at the store shortly after since we lost a lot of food and then headed back to work the next day. Luckily, both of our schools had power and we were able to work on site. Some schools weren't so lucky. There were even a few houses in our neighborhood that didn't get power back yet, right across the street. Anyway, glad that is over and hoping that the next hurricane isn't headed this way because I am also sure that no power with a newborn is about as bad as no power being nine months pregnant! I hope I don't have to find out!

Hurricane Irene-update
So, I clearly spoke too soon with my last blog post as we lost power shortly after. It wasn't so bad the first night as the A/C lingered around and it was still rainy and cool. We hoped our power would come back on, on Sunday as many of our friends did...but no such luck! It is Tuesday and we still have no power and aren't sure when it will be restored. We've been ok and our only loss was the entire freezer (though it was in need of a good cleaning out anyway). We had to drive about 15 miles to get some ice, but we were able to save all of our fridge stuff and have been able to eat what we have and use the grill in creative ways. Dan made us a nice breakfast yesterday, eggs, english muffins, and hashbrowns which was great. We've had turkey burgers, frozen pizza, mac n cheese all thanks to the gas grill and side burner attached. Nighttime is a little rough with the heat but luckily last night it got down to 60 and that helped keep the house a little cooler. We've been keeping busy during the day and staying out of the house as much as we can. We've been going to the gym everyday and letting Sean swim at the gym pool. Yesterday we went to the movies during the day, and of course he enjoyed that. Sean misses his morning cartoons but he loves using the flash light to walk around at night and he loves reading books by flashlight in bed each night. So, for now...we are doing ok for now though I have to say that being 9 months pregnant is not the best time to be "roughin" it with no A/C. Fingers crossed it will come on today!!
If you are wondering how I am updating, I am at our good friends house who has power and A/C. :o)

Hurricane Irene!
What do you do when you are stuck in the house all day because of a hurricane?
Sport your awesome rain gear (we went to the gym early this a.m. before the storm got bad)

Snuggle and watch a movie! We watched Tangled and it was great!
So far, we have had power all day (or else I wouldn't be able to update this blog, obviously) and have had a nice relaxing and quiet day at home. With all of us heading back to school on Monday (I actually started on last Wed.) a nice quiet weekend was perfect for us before things get crazy next week with school and a baby coming!

Pool fun with Friends!
We hadn't seen some of our close friends in a while and wanted to have one last hurrah before summer ended, we all returned to work (most are teachers) and of course Baby Carter's arrival. We headed down to our friend's neighborhood pool for the afternoon and dinner. Sean enjoyed getting to play with all of his buddy's and having some fun before summer ends!

bathtime!
Sean got to enjoy his first bath in his NEW bathtub. He loved it! Everytime I walk by and look in there I get happy because it turned out so well. We are so glad we did that and obviously got it all in before Baby Carter arrives! The other day I asked him to go to the bathroom downstairs before his nap and he said, "I want to go pee pee in my bathroom because it is beautiful!" Yes it is buddy!

Sean's new bathroom!
So, now Sean and Carter (soon) will have a wonderful new bathroom to share and grow up in. It might have been weird timing but it all worked out. I was able to clean my house and prepare for Carter and so now we are ready. Well, I should re-phrase, our HOUSE is ready. Us, not so much! ha ha
I told you it was bad!!!

We are very happy with how it turned out! Especially the paint color!A little bit of green left, but not too much!

The Kids Bathroom Re-Do!
So, what is the most random thing you can do 3 weeks before you are going to have a baby? Oh....that would be renovate a bathroom in your house! Luckily, it all worked out and the bathroom is complete (after only 3 work days, which is amazing). Dan and I just wanted a clean slate for the kids bathroom. The tub was old, the linoleum was from 1990 and gross and overall it just needed to be re-done. After remodeling our bathroom last year we had been wanting to update the guest bathroom as well. We finally took the plunge and just did it and are happy we did. The only thing left to do is for Dan to paint and then it'll be complete. It was definitely a hard week of a lot of mess and dust and clutter in other rooms which is really hard for a 9 month pregnant lady in full nesting mode...but I survived! Here are some of the work in progress pics. I'll post the completed room when it is all done, painted and newly decorated! Carter's room is also almost complete and pics of that will be come, also. Now our house is one more step closer to being ready for a newborn! There are still quite of few things left on my to do list but this was one major thing I am glad we checked off!
This was after day 1 of demolition. The new tub was installed and the new flooring that will go under the tile was installed.

There was already a new toilet and Dan just re-finished the vanity cabinets. What a difference!

The park.
We decided to take advantage of the great (cooler) weather and head over to the park near our house. Dan ran there and did a few loops and met us at the playground. It was such a nice afternoon/evening with no humidity and very cool temps. Sean had a great time playing and taking a little nature walk through some of the trails in the park.Balancing.

Playdate!
Sean and his friend Savannah had a playdate today at her house. She lives just around the corner from us and so I am sure they'll be friends growing up. They played, did a craft project and had lunch. Everytime we drive back her house he screams, "Vannah's house!". We also signed Sean up for soccer in the fall and they'll be on the same team. Should be fun!

Baby Sister's New Frame
As I blogged about before Sean and I had been working on a picture frame for Carter's room. He so lovingly refers to her most of the time as "baby sister" so I thought it was fitting to make a frame for her from Sean to hang in her room. I painted over a frame from Sean's room that was blue and we added some girly touches to it. Sean painted all the purple polka dots. I think it turned out well. The picture that will be in there is a picture of Sean and me together at the beach and he is hugging my tummy (right now it is a pic of Sean as a baby). I've ordered it but it hasn't come in yet. Carter's room is mostly done and when it is, I'll be posting pictures. It has turned out really well!

Shark week!
It is no secret that I am huge fan of Shark Week on discovery channel. I look forward to watching it every year. This year, I've just recorded the shows each night to watch the next day. I stumbled about a relatively tame one called Shark City, it chronicled the day of many animals in the reef by giving them each names and telling a story about their life that day. I thought it would be a good intro for Sean into Shark week! He loved it! He watched the whole thing and when he learned something new, he'd say, "I didn't know that!". For instance, I guess he didn't know that when sting rays are hiding from predators (sharks!) that they often bury themselves in the sand. He would also point out fish that he saw at previous aquariums like the lion fish. I am sure that won't be his last shark week experience! At this point, luckily, he has no idea that sharks ever attack humans or can be mean. He still thinks they are cool and would love to go swimming with them!

Dinner date with Gracyn
Sean loves his best buddy Gracyn and has a blast anytime we get them together. Since the Dads were golfing for the afternoon, Lindsey, the kids and I headed to the mall for some dinner and playtime. I didn't get a lot of pictures but they had fun. At dinner, when the waitress came over to take our drink order Sean says, "I'll have a lemonade and Gracyn will have milk." He ordered for her!! Too funny! I am not sure if they talked about it first or if he just knew that she'd want milk. Anyway, Lindsey and I were just so surprised and thought it was hilarious!

Sean the Helper
Sean loves to be a "helper" whenever Daddy is working on a project around the house. The curtains in Carter's room needed to be hung so Sean grabbed his tools and was waiting for Daddy to ask for his help. He ever got to use Daddy's real tools. He was pretty proud of himself and the curtains look great!
