10K

Go, Daddy, Go!!
Dan ran the Monument Ave 10K and did awesome! The kids and I dropped him off down at the start line but we were not able to stay and watch the race. Dan ran it with a lot of his friends from school and then completed a fun day of other activities with his guys friends. The kids and I did some shopping, went to the gym, played and hung out. It was a great day for everyone and we were super proud of Daddy's fast 10K time!

Just hanging out.

We always have fun with these two goofballs play together. Carter is still loving her big brother, though, Sean is not real excited about her being mobile and into everything! They are so cute together!

Such a happy girl!

 Getting big bro!

All over the place now that she can crawl!
 Got him!
Sean wanted me to take a pic so that you could all see how long he is!

 So big!
 On the move...
 Tackling big bro!

An "expert"

Sean loves to help around the house. In fact, we have been playing a little secret agent game lately. I whisper a secret mission into his ear and then when he completes the "mission" he gets secret agent points. Even though the points don't really get him anything special, he still loves getting them. Since we've been doing the secret agent points he has become just super helpful around the house and he thrives off the positive reinforcement and hearing how great of a helper he is. I was folding laundry tonight and he said he wanted to help because he did know how to fold blankets and things like that. We got the laundry out of the dryer and he grabbed a towel and began folding it. He, then, said, "Mommy, I am a folding expert". I just laughed.  He then proceeded to take all 3 towels that he folded, walked to my room, and put them away in the bathroom all by himself! What a great helper and smart little guy!

Early Risers. . .

I am not sure what happens but our children have decided to team against us and wake up before 6 am every weekend morning. During the week, they typically sleep until 6:15-6:30 and then sometimes we even have to wake them up. On the weekend, not so much, it is 5:30/5:45. There is obviously also a ripple effect, if one wakes up, then the other wakes up. We are doomed. I am not sure what causes this only on the weekend? It is a mystery to us! I hope over spring break we can work on sleeping in a little for all of us! Fingers crossed!

Yes, he ate it!

Sean wasn't super excited about my dinner choice when I explained there would be no cheese and peperoni on our pizza tonight. Instead, it was butternut squash, pesto, and tomatoes and a little gouda cheese. He did take it apart before he ate it and scraped off some tomatoes but he did eat it! Yay!

I have to say, it was delicious. One of my new favorite recipes and aside from cutting and roasting the squash it was pretty simple and easy. And NO Dan didn't make it, I did!! ha ha If I can find wheat pizza dough it would be even healthier. I know one thing for sure, I would have never eaten that pizza when I was 3 so we are off to a good start and hope Sean continues to be open to healthier and different kinds of foods.
A delicious and healthy dinner! I am not using "delicious" lightly, it was sooo good!
Good job, Sean!
PS. Thanks Andrea for the recipe!!!
She has some other great recipes on her blog: justcozy.wordpress.com

Two words: Uh oh.

She did this on her own. We are in trouble! I even caught her trying to pull up on the crib one day. So, time to put the crib down lower! How is she doing all of this at only 6 months old?!? I thought we had a little more time!

Monday night routine

Every Monday we have a big salad for dinner. It has become my favorite night of the week! I am just coming home from the gym and we get to sit down together and have a good healthy meal! Tonight's salad was so delicious I had to take a picture of it. Since I had cut up some avocados for my salad I  let Carter give them a try. She was to say the least, not impressed. I think we all enjoyed our dinner more than she did hers!

Delicious!
Carter doesn't seem that excited about her avocados. . .

Is it summer?

We already seemed to have skipped winter (besides those two snow days) and now have moved on to summer. I enjoy nice weather, but 80's seem like a bit much for March. I wonder if it is here to stay? We definitely enjoyed the weather and played outside this afternoon.
Literally seconds later he hit the ground. If you look closely you'll see why--both feet are of the ground!
 Such a pretty girl!
So much fun with that big blue ball!
 Playing catch with Daddy.
 Watching Bro

He stopped to give her a ball---so sweet!
Ohhh what is this green stuff?!?
Sean is a super fast runner! (he didn't get that from me!)
 Getting brave. . .
Wheeeeee!

Carter's BFF

One of my good friends from school takes her daughter to the same babysitter where Carter goes.  Her and Lola were born about 1.5 weeks apart and have been "friends" since then. They enjoy being together each day and loved seeing each other this weekend for our girls brunch. We enjoyed delicious french toast that Dan made for us and had fun playing with the kids!
The most fun thing to do is eat stuff. . .

A happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had a great St. Patty's day together this year. First, Sean and I went to see The Lorax in 3D which was absolutely amazing. It was my first 3D experience and now I question why we haven't been seeing all movies in 3D! Soo cool. At first Sean was very nervous about wearing the glasses but once he figured out what they were for he never took them off. He even wore them outside of the theater. After I got home and the kids (and I) napped we headed outside to enjoy the weather. The kids had a great time playing outside. All was well until my nose decided that outside was no good. I ended up in bed by 8:30 in a benadryl coma, which is to be expected this time of year. Other than the allergy attack it was a great day!
He is still a little nervous about wearing the glasses. . .
All set up with his popcorn and candy!
 Such a great movie!
 My smiley, irish, girl!
Thanks Aunt Suzie for the cute bow!
Not sure she likes the swing. . .
 What a cutie!
Just watching big bro play in the yard.
 Swinging with bro.
 My loves.
Going down the slide together!

Carter put it all together this afternoon and she crawled! Sean and I were enticing her with things we know shes loves (camera, remote, etc.). She did it!! What a big girl! 6 months a few days and she is crawling...uh oh!

Hello Summer!

It did seem a little odd for all of us to leave the house at 7 am today with summer clothes on, but it sure paid off. When I picked up the kids, the temperature read 85 degrees. Crazy, I know! So, we headed straight outside after getting home and had some fun. Carter was either not a fan of sitting near the grass (I hope this isn't it!) or didn't like leaning as our yard is on a slope. Either way, she wasn't super happy to be sitting on the blanket in the grass. She did have a few moments of smiles that I caught on camera. Sean enjoyed flying his "kite" that he made at school and drawing some letters with sidewalk chalk. I was floored when I saw how many he could write correctly. I knew he knew how to identify the letters and sounds but I had no idea he could write most of them so well. Yay Sean! What a great day.
 My loves!
It was super windy and Sean thought it was the perfect time to fly his kite!
 So excited!
 Happy girl!
Not so sure about this grass stuff. . .
Sidewalk chalk fun!

A "bees" cut

As you all know my mom, Nama, is going through chemo therapy right now. There has been a lot of talk of her shaving her head and she has told Sean that she is going to as to not upset him when he sees her. Well at dinner last night we were talking about Nama and Sean and getting their hair cut and he said, (I swear because I could not make this stuff up!) "Is Nama going to get a bees cut?" ha ha ha ha ha The funny thing is his Nama is the one that messes up phrases like that all the time. I guess he got that from her! He was on the right track. . .

Sitting up in her crib!

I put Carter down for her nap today and after a few minutes I peeked in to make sure she was asleep as it was very quiet. I caught her sitting straight up in her crib. That is a first for her. She can go from her tummy to sitting but she doesn't do it very often. She looked like she was up to no good but I had to take a pic anyway!

Carter is 6 months old

Our sweet Carter is six months old! She continues to be a joy to our entire family. She has changed so much in the past few months. Here is what she is up to these days:
*Weighs 16 lbs 8 oz (60 percentile)
*Measures 29.75 inches (99 percentile)
*scooting around on the floor
*on her hands and knees, rocking and ready to take off
*goes down for naps and bedtime without crying (and without a paci as we phased that out months ago, yay!)
*prefers to fall asleep in her own bed rather than be snuggled before naps/bed (I would like a little more snuggling but she gets super squirmy until you put her down in her bed)
*She sleeps on her tummy all of the time
*she rolls over but not to get across the room. Just to play on her tummy or back if she wants a change of scenery
*Eats about 2 oz of solids each night at dinner
*consistently signs for milk
*gets excited when she sees the spoon when it is time to eat
*goes to bed at 8pm and wakes up at 6:30am (we wake her up)
*still loves Sean and other little kids who pay attention to her
*smiles 90% of the time and laughs everyday
*loves taking a bath with big brother (we call it a "double" bath)
*wearing 12 month PJ's and 9 mo clothes
*still enjoys being in her jumparoo but spends most of her time playing on the floor
*has taken a noticable interest in toys

Carter's first bow!
Shes changed so much!
Laughing at Sean!
Love her!
"Look whooos the cutest!"
Such a big girl!
