We had a pretty busy and fun Sunday. First stop church which included mommy teaching children's church with Sean and ended with the church playground, a birthday party with some great friends and playtime in the backyard. We love this weather!
Sean was a great student during children's church.
She loves the playground!
Time for cake at Tucker's Bday
The whole gang reunited. We obviously bribed them for this picture! ha ha
Sean loves to scooter and Carter loves to ride her bike. Sometimes
they switch also. We go down the street a bit to the culdesac so they
have some space to ride without any cars.
She is on her way!
Watch out!
Loves his scooter
When we got home Carter wanted to show off of some of her faces.
Sean is loving kindergarten! He has never had one complaint about it. His behavior is great for his teacher and he of course does awesome on all of his work. He talks about lots of friends and how much he loves school often. Though he has his moments I can see a change in his maturity level already. He is growing up fast! We are really proud of him and excited for all of the wonderful things he is going to learn this year.
We had a great weekend in Charlottesville with Dan's parent to celebrate his birthday. The weather was great, we had a great dinner and a great birthday apple pie! Yum!
We've been so busy getting back into our school, afterschool, gym, etc. schedule that I haven't slowed down to take as many pictures as usual. Thankfully, Carter's school has sent me several this week. Though she claims she doesn't like school and has a fit every morning when I drop her off-she seems to be doing ok once she is there!
Carter loves to dress up in princess clothes and this afternoon she got her dress, shoes, and necklaces/bracelets all on. I am not a huge fan of the whole culture of princesses but I see that she likes to dress up and so I can be ok with it. She is pretty balanced. One minute it is princesses the other it is getting dirty, trains and lightening mcqueen with Sean.
We visited the doctor today to have Carter's 2 year old well check up. She is a healthy very TALL girl! She is 36 inches which puts her at the 95% and she is 29 lbs which puts her at the 75%. (Side note: Sean is 38lbs). Because she was measured and weighed standing up this time we avoided tears all together. She also didn't get a shot so that obviously helped. She is growing at the same rate since birth so there is no cause for concern, she'll just be a tall girl :o) I hope I at least have a few more years before I have to look up to her.
After I dropped Carter off at school I was able to swing by Sean's school to have lunch with him. I already took a half day off of work so I figured it was a great time to visit Sean. I brought him his favorite---panera mac n cheese. His class is so sweet and all of the school staff are wonderful. He is loving Kindergarten so much and I am so happy that he is happy!
I am glad I got to spend some extra time with each of them before heading to work for a half day.
Today was Carter's actual birthday and we had a few gifts saved for her to open today. She loves her new princesses (yes it pained me to purchase these!) that she can change the dresses on and a dress up minnie mouse also. After Nama, Poppy, and Auntie left we headed outside for some water fun. It seems that summer weather is here to stay so we put our bathing suites back on and enjoyed the water table and sprinkler. Sean even made the slide a water slide which sent them flying off of it at the end. They both thought that was hilarious!
Once it cooled off a bit we took a walk around the neighborhood so that Carter could try out her new bike and Sean could do some scooter riding. It is hard work for her but she does get the concept and gets going a little bit before she loses her balance. I am sure we'll be chasing after her on that bike in no time.
Carter's b-day theme was based off of one of her favorite books: Too Purpley. We had purple everything! She has a few friends and lots of family there to help her celebrate. It was a wonderful day to be outside and enjoy the weather. Her special gift from us was a new bike which she loved. We showed that to her first and she then refused to open any of her other presents because she just wanted to ride her bike around the living room. She also loved her water table that arrived the night before which meant she was able to play with it during the party (Thanks Nana and Poppi). There certainly was no shortage of gifts especially from Nama and Poppy. Whew! She has a whole new wardrobe and some great new toys. The birthday party was a success!
I didn't get a pic of her in her bookbag on the first day of school
The second day of school was also great. Carter did fuss a bit when I left her at school and Sean's bus still came really late. But, I think the situation has been fixed by transportation. Carter loves school once she is there, she just has a hard time saying goodbye to me in the morning.
We love having our house as the bus stop! He isn't nervous anymore!
