For those of you who don't know, Sean had a little accident the day before New Year's Eve. We were getting ready to walk out the door to go to dinner and so Dan blew out the tea light candle that was heating the scented wax. It was placed halfway in the middle of the counter top. Sean saw Dan blow it out and apparently was curious so reached for it himself. Dan leaped to him to stop this event from taking place but it was too late. Sean had already tipped the hot wax all over himself, mostly on his face.
I pride myself in being a calm person and even in traumatic situations in the past have been calm and controlled. This was different. Dan had the brains so grab him and put him under the sink and wash away the hot wax (all the while I am hysterical searching for the pediatrician's phone number, which in normal situations I know by heart). Most of the wax was washed off and we headed to the urgent care for kids. They were able to tell that his eye was unaffected, thank goodness. Sean has rather long full eye lashes and there were covered in wax. The nurse/doctor had to pick it all out to prevent infection. I had to leave the room for that. Thank goodness Dan was able to stay with him. Most of the burns were located right around his eye which made for a horrible look the next morning when he woke up.
Anyway, long story short his eye is now fine and he knows no difference. Dan and I on the other hand are traumatized! His eye is all healed now. Here is a before and after shot.
does he have on a little scarf in the after pic?
